Elles correspondent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement \u00e0 des familles de motorisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Les anc\u00eatres: Le moteur V2 Daimler, 1890-1896<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A l\u2019origine, les automobiles Panhard &amp; Levassor \u00e9taient bas\u00e9es sur la m\u00e9canique Daimler dont Panhard &amp; Levassor avait acquis la licence de fabrication pour la France. Il s\u2019agissait d\u2019un bi-cylindres en V. D\u00e9s 1890, Emile Levassor con\u00e7oit d\u2019installer un moteur bicylindre dans une automobile. Apr\u00e8s un premier prototype, une seconde voiture plus aboutie voit le jour en 1891.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1891_Proto_Compi\u00e8gne-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1891_Proto_Compi\u00e8gne-1.jpg\" alt=\"1891_Proto_Compi\u00e8gne-1\" class=\"wp-image-211\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Les essais \u00e9tant jug\u00e9s concluants, la d\u00e9cision est prise de construire une premi\u00e8re s\u00e9rie de trente voitures, faisant ainsi de Panhard &amp; Levassor le premier constructeur dans l\u2019histoire de l\u2019automobile mondiale. Cinq voitures sont vendues la premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e, en 1891.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En contact \u00e9troit avec Peugeot, Panhard &amp; Levassor fourni des moteurs en V Daimler de 1890 \u00e0 1896. D\u00e9s 1893 Emile Levassor et son ami Gottlieb Daimler travaillent sur un tout nouveau moteur: le Ph\u00e9nix. Ce moteur, \u00e0 deux ou quatre cylindres, commencera v\u00e9ritablement sa carri\u00e8re commerciale en 1896.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00e9s cette m\u00eame ann\u00e9e 1896, une boite de vitesses \u00e0 quatre rapports est propos\u00e9e. C\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019en 1901 appara\u00eet le nouveau moteur Centaure qui remplace totalement le Phenix d\u00e9s 1902. Dans ce nouveau moteur, les cylindres sont accoupl\u00e9s par groupes de deux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette m\u00eame ann\u00e9e 1902, appara\u00eet le carburateur \u00e0 r\u00e9glage automatique qui sera tr\u00e8s vite adopt\u00e9 par l\u2019ensemble des constructeurs automobiles. Appara\u00eet \u00e9galement un nouveau syst\u00e8me d\u2019allumage \u00e9lectrique par dynamo, bient\u00f4t remplac\u00e9 par un allumage par magn\u00e9to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1904.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1904.jpg\" alt=\"1904\" class=\"wp-image-238\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1903, le moteur Centaure \u00e9volue en devenant Centaure all\u00e9g\u00e9. Le moteur est ainsi plus compact. M\u00eame si le moteur sans soupape va bient\u00f4t arriver, ce nouveau moteur monobloc va perdurer jusqu\u2019en 1924, date de l\u2019abandon des moteurs \u00e0 soupapes jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la seconde guerre mondiale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1909-X5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1909-X5.jpg\" alt=\"1909-X5\" class=\"wp-image-240\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Le point culminant de cette g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de moteurs sera le type X19, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 fin 1912 et dont la commercialisation effective en 1913, va conna\u00eetre un large succ\u00e8s en raison de ses qualit\u00e9s r\u00e9elles. Nombre de collectionneurs actuels ne diront pas le contraire ! Le moteur sans soupape permet de pallier aux inconv\u00e9nients du moteur classique \u00e0 soupapes: vibrations, bruit\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1912-X17ss.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1912-X17ss.jpg\" alt=\"1912-X17ss\" class=\"wp-image-243\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Le principe repose sur une distribution par fourreaux (ou chemises) coulissants. Leur coulissement autour du piston assure l\u2019admission et l\u2019\u00e9chappement au travers de lumi\u00e8res, avec un nombre r\u00e9duit de pi\u00e8ces en mouvement et une absence quasi totale de jeux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bas\u00e9 sur le brevet de Charles Yale Knight, le syst\u00e8me va vite convaincre Arthur Krebs. Les premi\u00e8res voitures \u00e0 moteurs sans soupape sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es par Panhard &amp; Levassor en 1910 et r\u00e9ellement commercialis\u00e9es l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Les moteurs sans soupape monoblocs (1914-1945)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fin d\u00e9cembre 1914 une nouvelle 16HP X26 est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e. Son moteur est un quatre cylindre de 3,2 litres sans soupape monobloc et conna\u00eetra une tr\u00e8s longue carri\u00e8re sous diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9volutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1919-X26ss-torpedo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1919-X26ss-torpedo.jpg\" alt=\"1919-X26ss torpedo\" class=\"wp-image-244\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1919-X26ss.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1919-X26ss.jpg\" alt=\"1919-X26ss\" class=\"wp-image-245\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00e8s 1922, cette g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de moteurs remplace totalement les moteurs classiques \u00e0 soupapes qui disparaissent purement et simplement du catalogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1921-X36ss.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1921-X36ss.jpg\" alt=\"1921-X36ss\" class=\"wp-image-246\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1924, Panhard &amp; Levassor innove \u00e0 nouveau en modifiant profond\u00e9ment ses moteurs sans soupape. Jusque l\u00e0 les chemises sont r\u00e9alis\u00e9es en fonte. Ce mat\u00e9riau a l\u2019avantage de poss\u00e9der de bonnes caract\u00e9ristiques anti-friction. En contrepartie, le poids \u00e9lev\u00e9 emp\u00eache les hauts r\u00e9gimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Panhard &amp; Levassor remplace les chemises en fonte, \u00e9paisses et lourdes, par des chemises fines en acier, trois fois plus l\u00e9g\u00e8res. Pour \u00e9viter le grippage la chemise externe, moins sollicit\u00e9e thermiquement, est r\u00e9gul\u00e9e. La lubrification est \u00e9galement largement dimensionn\u00e9e, ce qui explique le panache caract\u00e9ristique qui suit une voiture \u00e0 moteur sans soupape\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tous les moteurs gagnent en vitesse de rotation et en performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1924-X49ss-20CV-Sport.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/doyennes-panhard-levassor.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1924-X49ss-20CV-Sport.jpg\" alt=\"1924-X49ss 20CV Sport\" class=\"wp-image-247\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1925 Panhard &amp; Levassor absorbe Delaug\u00e8re et Clayette. Cette vieille entreprise orl\u00e9anaise devient l\u2019atelier de carrosserie maison. A titre d\u2019exemple, le torp\u00e9do Panhard 10CV sans soupape X37 est affich\u00e9 24900 francs en 1922, lorsque la 10CV Citro\u00ebn est propos\u00e9e \u00e0 seulement 13900 francs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les voitures de la marque sont plut\u00f4t destin\u00e9es \u00e0 la bourgeoisie.
